Besides being packed with protein, most nuts contain at least some form of great nutrition. Whether that be omega-3 + omega-6, unsaturated fats, fibre or vitamin E. The protein, fibre and fat content in nuts all help to curb your appetite so they are great for snacking on-the-go or between meals.

According to nutritionist and natural medicine specialist Dr Axe, the nine healthiest nuts are; almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, Valencia peanut, pecans, walnuts + pistachios. So it’s a good job that all of our protein balls contain at least one of these delicious + nutritious nuts. Let’s find out the benefits of each of the nuts in our protein balls...


We use pistachios in our vegan Lemon + Pistachio protein balls as they are high in a wide array of vitamins + minerals and are also one of the best nuts for protein. Studies have found that eating two to three ounces of pistachios per day can improve blood lipid levels and lowered the ratio of bad cholesterol to good cholesterol. Eating pistachios can also improve motor function, reduce oxidative stress and help maintain normal blood sugar levels after eating a high-carbohydrate meal.


Our Cherry + Almond flavour protein balls include almonds which are high in fibre, protein and vitamin E. Studies have found that eating almonds every day can decrease cholesterol levels and reduce tummy fat. They can also increase beneficial HDL cholesterol, enhance memory function and even protect against breast cancer.


Peanuts are one of the most common nuts found in protein products as they are a good source of many essential vitamins and minerals and can be a healthy dietary addition. One study showed that a higher consumption of peanut butter reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Peanuts are also know to decrease the risk of of heart disease. Another study found that eating peanuts at least once per week during pregnancy decreased the risk of allergic disease in children. Cashews are in several of our protein balls including Cacao + Orange, Raspberry Brownie and Goji + Coconut. They are a popular nut that provide a hearty dose of healthy fats. Cashews are full of antioxidants that can boost the immune system and reduce the risk of chronic disease. Cashews are also lower in fat than other types of nuts but still provide a good amount of heart-healthy fats.


Macadamia nuts are especially high in good fats as well as nutrients like manganese and thiamine. Macadamias have several heart health-promoting benefits + reduces cholesterol. We use macadamia nuts in our Coconut + Macadamia whey protein balls.
