As our name suggests, we like to think of ourselves as experts when it comes to protein. We know there are so many benefits of consuming protein in your diet, so we thought we would let you in on our little protein secrets! We’ll be giving you more insights into the world of protein over the next few weeks, but to start with we thought we would discuss the benefits of different kinds of protein.
Firstly, we need to ask the question: “What it protein”? Protein is a major part of the skin, muscles, organs + glands.Every cell in the human body contains protein, making up more than 50% of the dry weight. Protein defines what an organism is, what it looks like, and how it behaves, because the body is made of thousands of proteins. Clever little things!
Here at The Protein Ball Co, we offer a variety of different protein sources so we can cater for people with different diets. We currently use: Whey protein, Plant based protein and Egg White protein.
So what are the benefits of whey protein? Simply put, whey protein is absorbed fast + contains essential amino acids.Whey has a fast protein-absorption rate and is used in most meal-replacement powders to provide protein quickly. It contains all the essential amino acids that our bodies require + is high in branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), which promote muscle growth and immune system-boosting glutamine. Three of our flavours contain whey protein - Peanut Butter, Coconut + Macadamia and Cacao + Orange.
Plant Based Protein
There are several benefits to vegan, plant based protein as well. Plant Based proteins such as pea + rice are full of good nutrition and are full of fibre + low in cholesterol. They are full of disease fighting phytonutrients, cholesterol-lowering fibre and are naturally low in cholesterol + sodium. However, plants are not complete proteins because they tend to either miss some of the essential amino acids. Therefore, we use a combination of brown rice and pea protein to get all the amino acids found in whey protein. Plant Based protein is a sustainable protein source + is vegan friendly. Four of our flavours contain plant based protein - Goji + Coconut, Lemon + Pistachio, Peanut Butter + Jam (NEW) and Raspberry Brownie (NEW).
Egg White Protein
Egg White protein is easily absorbed by the body whilst being cholesterol free. Eggs are a high-quality protein source, full of vitamins + minerals. This form of protein can also be suitable to for those who follow a paleo diet, depending on how strict they are. One of our flavours contains egg white protein - Cherry + Almond.
